The new services include receiving the electronic devices (laptops, IPads, and large-size smart phones) at departure gates, covering them, and returning them back to the guests upon arriving to their destinations. Thus, the guests can make use of their personal devices as far as possible while they are waiting for boarding at the departure lounge and before getting on their flights. Moreover, they can use their devices during their waitingtimeintransit travel. The airline’s ground handling staff at King Abdulaziz International Airport and King Khalid International Airport will receive the devices at time of boarding and will keep them in separate boxes for each passenger, and those boxes will be kept in the cargo section of the plane to be delivered to the guests at the baggage reclaim area.

The airline, also, made use of‘plug and play’ system on the back-seat screen of its new airliners through the support of the personal flash memory of the guest. Moreover, Saudia offered all guests going to or returning from the US and UK 20 MB free WiFi access on board the flights.

Abdulrahman al-Taib, Vice President for Corporate Communications, declared that since Saudia get informed with the US and UK ban on carrying electronic personal devices onboard, it begins to take the appropriate procedures to mitigate the negative effects of the ban.
