Saudia has put in a firm order for 20 A330-300R and 30 of the best-selling A320, one of the former arrived to King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA), Jeddah on 1st, December, 2016, and 4 of the latter on 12th, 15th, 27th, and 29th of December. It is worth mentioning that this fleet will be dedicated to domestic routes.
KAIA celebrated the delivery of the first B777-300ER equipped with the first-class suites on 6th of December. In addition, another aircraft of the same type was arrived to King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) on 10th of November. These two aircraft are part of a firm order to acquire (10) aircraft equipped with this ultra-luxurious product, (3) of which will be delivered during the current month.
His Excellency Eng. Saleh N Al-Jasser affirmed that the delivery of these aircraft will further enhance the operational plans of Saudia through increasing the number of flights and seating capacity, enhancing operational efficiency, developing product, improving service, ensuring the safety and comfort of our valued guests, and improving the competitive position of the company.
Al-Jasser stated that receiving (11) aircraft during 30 days, integrating them into the fleet, and scheduling their flights both domestically and internationally is not an easy task. However, he is confident that Saudia’s staff will spare no effort achieve a resounding success.
“Saudia and its various sectors,” Al-Jasser continued, “are preparing and conducting the required procedures to receive the new fleets, these procedures include: training pilots, cabin crew, dispatchers, technicians, trainers, engineers, planners, and employees of ground services for handling different types of aircraft, reviewing the programs proposed by the manufacturers, and providing spare parts and ground service equipment.
According to the approved time schedule, Saudia will receive during the next 30 days 11 new aircraft, 4 of them are B777-300 equipped with the first class suites, thus Saudia fleet will contain 5 aircraft of this type, in addition to another 5 which will be delivered during the next year. Furthermore, 3 A330R will be delivered to enhance Saudia’s fleet with 9 aircraft of this sophisticated type, besides another 11 will be delivered next year.
