Closure of the Annual International Regional Conference in Cairo

As a part of the transformation program and the strategic plan which is being implemented in Saudia, its strategic units, and affiliates, a closure ceremony of Saudi Arabian Airline’s Annual International Regional Conference was held in Cairo on Friday, 7th October 2016, featuring the attendance of HE. Eng. Saleh al-Jasser, DG of Saudia, Capt. Sultan al-Dhowaihi, CEO of Saudi Arabian Airlines Co., Khalid al-Balawi, EVP of Commercial Affairs, and a number of executives and regional managers of international stations in Saudia,

The conference included a mix of panel discussions and workshops, all focused on the goals which had been achieved during the current year and what will be accomplished over the next year -especially in the commercial and operational areas, and the ways to raise operating efficiency in international stations, include American, European, African, the Middle Eastern and the Gulf, Asian, and the Indian stations. Moreover, the conference session also discussed the strategic goals of 2017 and approved a plan to improve services and increase efficiency and operation, provided recommendations for next year, and determine the appropriate solutions that help to achieve the best service ever.

The Investment Plan of the New Fleet

The operational officials discussed with the regional managers the investment plan of Saudia’s new fleet, which is witnessing a significant increase and a rapid modernization and development in order to achieve the strategic goals of Saudia to increase seat capacity on the domestic routes, and to expand the international operation by operating a new international destinations. By the end of next year Saudi Arabian Airlines’ fleet will be the most advanced in the region with the delivery of (40) to (45) aircraft during the current period. A concluded extended session involving all teams and executives was held, also, to discuss the target goals to be implemented over the next year.

First Class Suite

In his speech during the closing session, al-Jasser lauded the positive results of the conference, and praised the operational performance of all regional stations; he further noted the promising opportunities to promote and develop such a great performance in the coming year. Al-Jasser, also, talked about B777-300ER ultra-luxury first class suite which will be launched soon.

Enhancing Seating Capacity on the Domestic Routes

HE the Director General affirmed that seating capacity is of ultimate priority for Saudia. He clarified that “there are significant increases in this regard and during the current year seating capacity increased up to (16%) for domestic routes and this growth will be further boosted over the next year. We are witnessing the most important transformational shift in the overall history of Saudia, as its strategic plan SV2020 aims to double in 7 years what has been achieved in 70 years by doubling the fleet to 200 aircrafts by 2020, operating to new international destinations, enhancing seating capacity on domestic routes, and developing services.”
