SAUDIA honours Filippino loyal attendant

Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) Vice President for In-Flight Services, Eng. Ahmed Alwassiah, extended deepest sympathies and condolences on the behalf of Director General Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser to the bereaved family of SAUDIA’s late flight attendant April Joie Fernandez.

Eng. Alwassiah told the family that SAUDIA has lost an outstanding colleague who had a great love and exceptional loyalty to the company. He then handed the her mother a personal condolences letter by Al-Jasser in which he said:

“Please accept our sincere condolence together with our high regard of Ms. Fernande's deep-routed since of belonging to Saudi Arabian Airlines. It was indeed gratifying for Saudi Arabian Airlines that Ms. fer was so proud and felt extremly privileged to have once been a part our airlines in-flight services that she requested to be buried in her SAUDIA uniform.

Ms. Ma.Theresa Fernandez, April’s mother, expressed her gratitude to SAUDIA for standing by the family during their time of grief.

Joy has died after leukaemia and requested her family to be buried in the SAUDIA uniform. Her last wish sparked widespread reactions on social networks and was described as an outstanding example of dedication and loyalty to the company. Commenters considered her story inspirational to all employees of SAUDIA.

SAUDIA’s office in Manila named the attendant training hall after Joe's name in recognition of her loyalty to the company.
