SV fleet modernization

Saudi Arabian Airlines (SV) has started updating its fleet as part of its plan to keep pace with the latest technological advances in the aviation industry. The first modernized Boeing B777 has already been unveiled, while the remaining 21 aircraft of the same model are scheduled to be renewed before long.

Mr. Khaled Almolhem, Director General, Saudi Arabian Airlines has recently inspected the first modified aircraft at King Abdul Aziz International Airport. The modifications include new passenger seats and entertainment systems, as well as the introduction of a new communications system that will allow passengers to use their cell phones on board the aircraft. "After we get all necessary licenses, passengers will soon be able to use their cellular phones and laptops during their journey," Mr. Almolhem said. H.E. added that it took the Airline's technicians nearly two months to install the new Aero Mobile system on the aircraft. VP Technical Services, Mr. Ali Abdullah Mila'at said that all seats on the modified Boeing have been replaced with newer ones of superior quality for passenger ease and comfort. "The new supple seats are covered with soft leather to ensure maximum comfort, especially when a passenger is sleeping," he said. Mr. Mila'at added that the aircraft's entire entertainment system has also been replaced. "The new entertainment system is more advanced and allows passengers to choose a variety of audio and video programs. All seats have been equipped with electrical outlets and memory card slots to give passengers a choice of uses for their personal computer devices," he said. Mr. Mila'at further noted that first class seats have been supplied with 15.4" screens, business class seats with 12.1" screens and guest class seats with 8.9" screens. "All are touch-operated and easy to use," he said.
