Domestic ticket validity extended to one year

SAUDIA has decided to extend the validity of domestic flight tickets from six months to one year from January 1, 2015 along with its move to introduce “Book and Buy” system on domestic flights to make optimum use of the airline’s seat capacity.

According to the new system, passengers have to purchase tickets while making reservations on domestic flights and they will not get a grace period like before to buy ticket. The ticket validity was extended to one year to give passengers enough flexibility.

Many international airline companies have already applied the “Book and Buy” system to avoid wastage of seats as many passengers book seats and will not use them or cancel their bookings in the last minute, thus preventing actual travelers from using available seats.

The system will also prevent illegal agents from exploiting passengers by blocking seats and selling them for higher prices.

SAUDIA charges SR50 to SR140 on passengers for changing booking date and route or reissuing ticket or refunding, depending on the class and required service. They will lose 50% of ticket value if they fail to cancel booking or did not arrive on time to catch the flight.

SAUDIA passengers will benefit from the new system and measures, by finding more seats available when they wish to travel.
