The New Budget Reflects the Strength and Stability of the Kingdom’s Economy

Commenting on the Saudi budget announced yesterday, His Excellency Eng. Saleh Al Jasser, the Director General of SAUDIA, remarked that 2018 budget is a comprehensive and broad-based one. Its record figures ushered in a period of enormous economic reformation where revenues are diversified and private sector is stimulated. The budget includes a package of proposals aimed at enhancing confidence in the national economy, and diversifying its sources and never depend on one main source of income any more.

“The speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques reflects the strength and stability of the Kingdom’s economy and its ability to face myriad of economic challenges, thanks to God, then to the wisdom of our leadership. The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 is aiming at driving the country forward into a broader and a more comprehensive horizon that leads to balanced economic growth, and establishes a new stage through which the Saudi economy based on firm and solid foundations that never affected by the fluctuations of the global economy,” Eng. Al Jasser said.

“Despite the low oil prices,” Eng. Al Jasser continued, “the new budget is unprecedented in the history of the Kingdom thanks to the smart spending reforms. This would not have been achieved without the extraordinary ability to faces daunting global economic challenges, and the innovative initiatives involved in the inspiring strategic plan.”

Eng. Al Jasser affirmed that the new budget reflects the wise vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the exceptional efforts of The Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs and Minister of Defense. The new budget provides increased funding for the sectors of services that affect citizens directly, including: housing, education and health care.

The budget also focused on expanding the role of the private sector to be a key partner in the developmental programs and to contribute in the national economy. Eng. Al Jasser pointed out that Saudi Airlines, in its turn, is keeping pace with the Kingdom’s promising budget and its major developmental projects by adopting an ambitious transformational plan aiming at investing in human resources, enhancing capacity, expanding international network, increasing operational efficiency, and developing services and products.
