SAUDIA to operate Umrah flights from two new Indonesian cities

SAUDIA will operate flights from the Indonesian cities of Surabaya and Medan to Madinah to transport Umrah pilgrims, beginning from Dec. 8, 2014.

The move aims at increasing the airline’s Umrah market share in the sector. SAUDIA operate two flights weekly on Jeddah-Surabaya-Madinah route on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Two more weekly flights will be operated on Jeddah-Medan-Madinah on Sundays and Wednesdays.
SAUDIA will use a Boeing 747 jumbo jet with 450 seats to operate the new flights.

SAUDIA disclosed its plan to operate similar direct flights from other foreign cities to carry pilgrims and other passengers. It has opened a new department to cater to the needs of Haj and Umrah traffic.
