It is worth mentioning that Saudi Arabian Airlines achieved this highest rate of performance despite the halt of flights between Madinah and Cairo. Air travel between Saudi Arabia and Egypt has been on the rise year after year as a result of the consecutive occurrence of importance seasons such as summer and Umrah.
SV wanted to make use of this increasing passenger traffic during high seasons by increasing its seat capacity and operating more flights. There will be dramatic improvement in the airline’s services in the coming months with the arrival more newly purchased Airbus planes to join its fleet of aircraft.
The national carrier has already received 24 Airbus planes from a total of 70 new Airbus and Boeing aircraft it ordered two years ago. By the end of the year, the number of new Airbus planes received by the airline will increase to 39, enabling the national carrier to operate more flights and increase seat capacity on its flights between the Kingdom and Cairo and other destinations.
On August 20, 2010 Saudi Arabian Airlines operated 25 flights between Cairo and different stations in the Kingdom to transport 8,021 passengers. This represents a record performance in a single day.
Cairo is considered one of Saudi Arabian’s most important international stations in terms of flights and passengers. The airline was able to shift successfully to Terminal No. 2 for Arrivals and Terminal No. 3 for Departures at building No. 1 at Cairo International Airport.
