Regulations

• Saudia welcomes household pets on direct routes when they are properly crated and accompanied by valid health and vaccination certificates (including rabies) and all documents required by the destination country.
• Pets travel in the cabin or cargo hold at the Guest's responsibility. Saudia is not liable if destination authorities refuse entry.
• Service Animals: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia allows the entry of service dogs for Guests with visual or hearing impairments. Cats are permitted if a valid health certificate is obtained and attested by the relevant Saudi Embassy.
• Registration: All live animals must be registered on the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture’s (NAAMA) website via the NAAMA portal prior to travel.
• Wildlife: Wildlife animals and products cannot be imported to or exported from the Kingdom without prior written permission from the Saudi National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development. Approvals can be obtained by contacting the Commission in Riyadh (P.O. Box 61681, Riyadh 11575).
• Transporting live animals, products, or biological preparations requires an approved import permit from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
• Birds: Importing live birds into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is currently restricted. Carriage is only allowed with necessary permits from the Ministry of Agriculture proving the birds are free of infectious diseases.
• Pets must be odorless, non-aggressive, and must not require attention from the crew during the flight.
• Cats and small birds may travel in the cabin or climate-controlled cargo hold, provided the hold is equipped with a ventilation system.
• Dogs must be transported in the cargo hold (holds are equipped with ventilation systems).
• Service dogs (for Guests with visual or hearing impairments) are transported in the cargo hold free of charge.
• Falcons: Saudia accepts falcons in the cabin when properly hooded and accompanied by a handler. All entry permits, health certificates, and documents must be valid. Carriage is at the Guest's own risk.
• Falcons are permitted entry to KSA with valid Health Certificates and written approval from the National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development.
• Please inform Saudia at the time of booking if you intend to travel with a pet.
• Large livestock or wild animals are accepted as Cargo only and must comply with air cargo regulations.

Fees & Charges

• Fees apply to pets (up to 5 kg including the container) travelling in the cabin or cargo hold.
  • Saudia charges $100 USD for cabin transport or $300 USD for cargo hold transport on domestic and international flights (excluding USA & Canada).
  • For flights to/from the USA and Canada, please check the specific fees on the respective regional pages.
• Fees are subject to change. Please contact the nearest sales office or the Guest Care Center in your country of residence.

Container Requirements

• Cats carried in the cabin must not exceed 5 kg (combined weight of pet and container).
• Only one pet per container is allowed. The container must not exceed 52.5 cm x 32.5 cm x 40 cm (21 in x 13 in x 16 in).
• The container must have adequate ventilation holes.
• The container must be completely leak-proof.
• Saudia reserves the right to inspect and reject containers that do not meet safety standards.

Dogs Travelling to the United States

Dogs travelling to the USA are accepted via Cargo service only and cannot be accepted at passenger check-in counters.

Before proceeding to the cargo area, Guests must meet the following requirements:

• Complete the Dog Import Form issued by the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC). If your dog is between 6 and 12 months old, you must complete this form at least 15 days before departure.
• Dogs must be at least 6 months old to enter the United States.
• Please bring a digital or paper receipt of the completed form to the airport.
• Your dog must be microchipped.
